ELECTION of CORNET
On the evening of Wednesday, 7 th May members of the public wishing to be spectators at the Cornet Elect's home should note there will be very limited parking available.
The Cornet's Walk round the town will start from Stirches Road at 7.45 p.m.

CONGRATULATORY SMOKER
The Congratulatory Smoker will be held in the Town Hall on Wednesday, 7 th May at 8.30 p.m.   Tickets priced £3.00 will only be on sale at the door (correct money please) on the night.   Doors open at 8.00 p.m.  

COLOUR BUSSING BALLOT
Residents wishing Colour Bussing tickets, priced £5.00 and £6.00, should make written application by POSTCARD   ONLY to their undernoted representatives of the Common Riding Committee in their respective Wards on or before Saturday, 10 th May.   Postcards should state full name and address of applicant and also price of ticket desired.   Only two tickets are allowed per household.   Past successful applicants must have a three year lapse.

RECEPTION for EXILED TERIES
A Reception will be given in the Town Hall on Wednesday, 4 th June at 7.45 p.m. by the Hon. Provost's Council and the Common Riding Committee for returned Teries in Hawick for the Common Riding.   Invitations to the Reception will be issued on the following conditions, namely: (a) the reception is for Teries who have moved from Hawick or direct descendants of Teries who have left Hawick and are visiting the town at the time of the Common Riding including the partner of the returned Teri or descendant of such,            
(b) to be eligible for invitation to the Reception, returned Teries or descendants, must have their permanent residence outwith the regions of Tayside, Central, Strathclyde, Fife, Lothian, Dumfries & Galloway and Borders in Scotland.  The counties of Northumberland, Cumbria, Tyne & Wear, Durham, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cleveland, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Humberside,
(c) no relative or friend may accompany visitors from the U.K. and Ireland to the Reception, however, overseas visitors may be accompanied by one relative orFriend from the household in which they are residing. COMMON RIDING BALL
The Ball will be held in the Town Hall on Friday, 6 th June at 10.00 p.m. immediately following on from the Dinner.   A strict dress code of   black tie for gentlemen and long evening dress for ladies will be enforced.   Tickets, priced £8.00 per person, will be on sale at 11 O'Connell Street.   A seating plan will be in operation.

OFFICE OPENING TIMES
The Common Riding office at 11 O'Connell Street will be open on Saturdays 10 th and 31 st May from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., Thursday 22 nd , Friday 23 rd , Thursday 29 th and Friday 30 th May and Tuesday 3 rd and Wednesday 4 th June from 1.00 to 3.00 p.m.
Please note, tickets for all licensed events will only be available to over 18's.
